Colorgraphically Speaking–Meaning of Grey

Along with the colorgraphically speaking infographic, I have a lot to say about grey today. Grey is known as the designer’s workhorse. Workhorse because achromatic grey is ironically masterful at playing chameleon. How so, you ask?

Warm and Cool Colors Mini Tutorial

This is a post I wrote on a decorating forum a few years ago. I get many emails asking about “the rules” of mixing warm and cool. Thought this mini tutorial might help answer some of those questions.

As an experienced professional architectural color consultant, I can’t imagine using just one brand of paint.

Practically speaking, it is not possible to work with national and international clients and specify just one brand of paint because access varies. Here’s what you need to know in order to shop smart for paint.

The paper I wrote about LRV, Light Reflectance Value, is cited as a source in this AEC Daily and Benjamin Moore course called “Color and Light”. Three pages in the course are dedicated to LRV and reference some of my research. Cool.

Blogging Life What is Pitch Black?

What is Pitch Black?

Think I’ve mentioned before that I live on a mountain in the Chihuahuan Desert. It’s not like I live in the middle of nowhere, but kinda do. Pointing out where El Paso, Texas is located couldn’t be easier – it’s the farthest west corner of Texas. Mexico and New Mexico are minutes away.

Feedback

Feedback from my Color Budz Thanks you guys!

"Surely the next step is eBooks?! Lori has written enough to fill tens of books (and then some, I'm sure) and she is the expert's expert: people will pay for this. I would/will. In fact, if you were to ever do courses, I believe I would fly over to the States to attend. You are both fantastic writers and I, for one, am gripped." —Heather Jenkinson, November 15 at 3:31am

"I just like the style you took with this article. It isn't every day that you discover something so to the point and enlightening."

"I have been looking around colorstrategies.net and actually am impressed by the terrific content material here."

"I simply needed to let you know that I have been enjoying what I have seen and I look forward to reading more."

"I love how you use color on your blog. Using that many colors in a logo or on one page can easily scream cheesy. The way you have used a lot of colors looks fun and classy. Very tasteful and it's obvious that you are a color pro."

"I call Lori the “color scientist” because she’s incredibly knowledgeable about all things related to color and paint"—Ellen Kennon, Full Spectrum Paints

"... And by the way, I thoroughly enjoyed your articulateness, erudition, and devotion to your profession."

"This cast was so informative and helpful. I have been reading color theory books, but to have all of the community and knowledge for a week away will be so helpful to grow in the color world. Thank you for making this series! I can't wait to hear more!"
