Blogging Life New Blog Design & Remembering First Blog

New Blog Design & Remembering First Blog
End of the year is a good time for reflection. My first blog was called “Color Noodle” launched December, 2008. April 2010 I switched blogging platforms to WordPress and decided to change to a new design and name, Color Budz. Have a hankerin’ to change things up again.

Blogging Life Colorgraphical™ – New Direction for Color Budz

Colorgraphical™ – New Direction for Color Budz

I’ve taken a bit of a hiatus from posting. It’s time for a new beginnings. In order to provide a “full palette of color guidance™“, it helps to have a defined philosophy and point of view on color and design.

Won’t find the following terms in a dictionary but that doesn’t matter. What matters is how I’ve coined and defined them and how they will become meaningful -and hopefully useful- to you.

Blogging Life What is Pitch Black?

What is Pitch Black?

Think I’ve mentioned before that I live on a mountain in the Chihuahuan Desert. It’s not like I live in the middle of nowhere, but kinda do. Pointing out where El Paso, Texas is located couldn’t be easier – it’s the farthest west corner of Texas. Mexico and New Mexico are minutes away.

Social Media for Paint & Color Professionals

I take social media seriously. I believe in it. I have decorating forums and message boards to thank for a very interesting and fabulously flourishing tribe. I appreciate every single person who has ever followed “funcolors” and continues to do so here on the blog, Color Budz.

Stats and quantifying your presence are important things to think about if you’re just now breaking into using social media to build a network.

Blogging Life Interview at Colour Me Happy

Interview at Colour Me Happy
In 2009 I met (via phone) Maria Killam. She subsequently invited me for an interview on her blog, Colour Me Happy. Flattered and excited I, of course, accepted.

Almost one full year later and people are STILL talking about that interview!

I’m told it inspired many new ideas for many people and “lit a fire under a few butts that had grown complacent in their craft.”

Feedback

Feedback from my Color Budz Thanks you guys!

"Surely the next step is eBooks?! Lori has written enough to fill tens of books (and then some, I'm sure) and she is the expert's expert: people will pay for this. I would/will. In fact, if you were to ever do courses, I believe I would fly over to the States to attend. You are both fantastic writers and I, for one, am gripped." —Heather Jenkinson, November 15 at 3:31am

"I just like the style you took with this article. It isn't every day that you discover something so to the point and enlightening."

"I have been looking around colorstrategies.net and actually am impressed by the terrific content material here."

"I simply needed to let you know that I have been enjoying what I have seen and I look forward to reading more."

"I love how you use color on your blog. Using that many colors in a logo or on one page can easily scream cheesy. The way you have used a lot of colors looks fun and classy. Very tasteful and it's obvious that you are a color pro."

"I call Lori the “color scientist” because she’s incredibly knowledgeable about all things related to color and paint"—Ellen Kennon, Full Spectrum Paints

"... And by the way, I thoroughly enjoyed your articulateness, erudition, and devotion to your profession."

"This cast was so informative and helpful. I have been reading color theory books, but to have all of the community and knowledge for a week away will be so helpful to grow in the color world. Thank you for making this series! I can't wait to hear more!"
